Account of the Battle of Lake Erie, by Judge Barker, August 7, 1814. American Naval forces under Oliver Hazard Perry clashed with the Royal Navy at the Battle of Lake Erie on September 10, 1813. One of the largest naval battles of the war, Perry was able to lead the Americans to victory and capture the entire British fleet. Control the lake for the remainder of the war helped American forces to later recapture Detroit and achieve victory in the Battle of the Thames.
