Photograph of first weekly statement of banks that were members of the Philadelphia Clearing House Association, for the week preceding March 29, 1858. Newspaper clipping pasted on reverse of photo reads: "The Philadelphia Bank was 'Clearing House Member No. 1,' attested by this initial clearing house statement. It bears the same clearing house number today. Thomas Robins, president, became the first president of the Philadelphia Clearing House. Joseph Wayne, Jr., president today, is president of the Philadelphia Cleaing House Association." The clipping has a date stamp of November 28, 1937.
