Photographs from the Philadelphia Record Photo Morge of Metropolitan Opera House, located at Broad and Poplar Streets, Philadelphia. Built in 1908, it was the ninth opera house built by Oscar Hammerstien.

Photo 1 shows a line of young people waiting outside, with police standing by. Photo 2 shows a couple, theatrically dressed, marked up for editing by the Record. Photo 3 shows the exterior of the theater from Broad Street. Photo 4 shows a crowded dancefloor. Photo 5 shows the interior of the theater, shot from the stage.

Metropolitan Opera House, Broad and Poplar Streets, which the owners, Lu Lu Temple, are offering for sale through Albert M. Greenfield & Co. This was originally built by Oscar Hammerstein as the Philadelphia Opera House, and subsequently aquired by Lu Lu Temple to house and entertain its large membership, which project it has since abandoned and recently decided to dispose of the property.
