Image Description:
This digital record contains six images that depict three photographs from the Philadelphia Record photograph morgue collection. These photographs are held together in box 306 in a folder labeled as, "Fiske, Mrs. Minnie Maddern, Actress (died 8/15/32)." This folder contains many additional photographs that are not currently digitized and box 306 contains two additional folders relating to Minnie Maddern Fiske.

These photographs depict Minnie Maddern Fiske (December 19, 1865 – February 15, 1932), born as Marie Augusta Davey with some sources[who?] quoting December 19, 1864 as her date of birth, but often billed simply as Mrs. Fiske, was one of the leading American actresses of the late nineteenth and early twentieth century. She also spearheaded the fight against the Theatrical Syndicate for the sake of artistic freedom. She was widely considered the most important actress on the American stage in the first quarter of the 20th century. Her performances in several Henrik Ibsen plays widely introduced American audiences to the Norwegian playwright.

The first and last images were photographed by the "White Studio" and the second by the "Curtis Publishing Company."
