Photograph depicts portrait of Moses “Moe” Louis Annenberg.  Annenberg was born in East Prussia and immigrated to Chicago in 1900 where he started out as a newspaper salesman.  He later built a successful publishing company, which purchased the Philadelphia Inquirer in 1936.  In 1939, Annenberg was indicted for tax evasion and plead guilty to the charges.  Annenberg served two years in prison before his death on July 20, 1942.
