Lochnaw Castle, Leswalt, Scotland where I finished my education at Mr McGhees Boarding school, See Vol. _ Page_, in my sketch book (Lights & Shades) in the vicinity of Lochnaw Castle. About 1395, proprietor of Lochnaw was driven from his possessions by the Black Douglas & the "Castle of of [sic] Lochnaw was blown up." During the fifteenth century Andrew Agnew of Lochnaw being in alliance with the Douglasses and Kennedies of Culrean, rapidly extended his properties. In 1451 King James 2nd granted the Laird of Lochnaw the sheriffdome of Wigtown to himself and heirs in fee and heritage for ever.
