House of the Schuylkill Fishing Co, built in 1732 on the west bank of the Schuylkill, moved in 1820 to the Eastside below Grays Ferry. General Washington with the officers of the army and Navy were entertained in this house on June 14th 1787 and during the yellow fever in 1793, hundreds of rich and poor were furnished with fresh fish every morning. Samuel Morris, a quaker was Governor of this company of 46 years, his bust in plaster rests on a pedestal over the door and the original old flag hangs on the wall beside it. Sketched by D.J.Kennedy
