The New U.S. Navy Yard at League Island, Philada. Sketched from top of the Dry dock at the terminus of South Broad Street with the Delaware River. The wooden foot bridge is the centre line of Broad Street and leads to the pier and receiving ship about 100 yards from the sea wall. The Island contains- acres. Was sold to the London Co in 1699 and in Deed dated 1761 is called League Island. Presented by City to the U.S Government. Sketched November 17, 1874 by D.J.Kennedy
