Photograph depicts Lessing Julius Rosenwald reading a book in front of a collection of books.  Lessing J. Rosenwald was a businessman who served as chairman of Sears, Roebuck and Company from 1932-1939.  He was also a well-known enthusiast of rare books, donating his collection to the Library of Congress, and a chess patron.
