Image: 1/6 plate; Head and shoulders of a man wearing a jacket with a high collar, a vest, tie, and upturned collar, with color applied to the cheeks and lips. Preserver: Straight, narrow, embossed with simple pattern (after 1850). Mat: Oval with matte finish and simple embossed design (1850). Case: Paper-covered wood-frame, not embossed, with a push-button fastener, and a reinforced brass-hinge, interior gilded line details, with a red velvet pinchpad and an unembossed red velvet cushion (1850).
