Image: 1/6 plate; woman seated in elaborate studio posing chair, with arm resting on cloth covered posing table, with hair parted in center, mostly covering ears, wearing floral dress with Jenny Lind collar, trimmed epaulets, flared sleeves midforearm in length, white cuffed undersleeves, black netted silk mitts (fingerless gloves), and drop earrings, with color applied to cheeks. Preserver: Straight and embossed with simple pattern (after 1850). Mat: Double elliptical, with sandy finish (mid 1840-50). Case: Leather-covered wood-frame embossed with a floral design on the front and a geometric design on the back, with gilded pattern on interior edge, red velvet pinchpad and red velvet cushion embossed with the photographer's studio name and address and floral and geometric designs (1846-50s).
