Inscription:
Loss of the steam packet "Clydesdale," Capt. Turner, by fire on May 15th 1827. Bound from Glasgow to Belfast with 13 passengers and ran on shore at Corswall Light House at midnight in bright moonling and smooth sea, passengers and crew saved, but "James Maxwell" pilot, dreadfully burned in face, hands and feet. I was a witness to the above. D F Kennedy
