Image: 1/6 plate on purple ruby glass; Standing boy with arm resting on cloth-covered posing table, wearing light pants and jacket made with a checked print, a high collar turned down over a dark narrow and long bow tie, holding a hat in his hand. Preserver: Straight but more ornate (1850s). Mat: Oval with matte finish and simple embossed design (1850). Case: Leather-covered wood-frame embossed with a vase and butterfly design both front and back, with a gilded edge trim on the interior, a red velvet pinchpad, and a red velvet cushion embossed with a geometric design (1850s).
