Image: Head and shoulders of a man with a mustache, hair parted on one side and covering most of the ear, in a tweed jacket and vest, with a white shirt, collar high on the neck, and a dark bow tie. Preserver: [none]. Mat: Oval with sandy finish (late 1840s). Case: Plain (unembossed) leather-covered wood-frame half case, with a red velvet pinchpad (pre-1850).
