Image: 1/6 plate; Seated woman, with hair parted in the center and covered with a white daycap tied under her chin, wearing a dark dress with a low armscyes, and dark gloves. Preserver: Straight and embossed with simple pattern (after 1850). Mat: Oval with matte finish and simple embossed design (1850). Case: Leather-covered wood frame embossed with rare The Fish and Grape motif [Plate 103 on page 107 of "American Miniature Case Art" by Floyd and Marion Rinhart (Cranbury, New Jersey: A. S. Barnes and Co., Inc., 1969)] both front and back, with exterior and interior gilded edge trim, red velvet pinchpad, and a red velvet cushion embossed with a geometric design (ca. 1854).
