Photograph of a smog blanketed Downtown Pittsburg during the day.  From original photo caption: “The clock at right center shows a quarter to noon, January 19, but Pittsburgh, Pa., residents walked in artificially-lighted streets. Trolley motormen and motorists used their headlights and storekeepers switched on their signs when one of the heaviest smogs (smoke and fog) in the city's history blanketed the town. This is the downtown section.”
