Biography:
The Cincinnati Gazette was founded as a weekly paper in July 1815 by publisher Thomas Palmer. Later that year, the Gazette merged with another newly-founded paper, Liberty Hall and Cincinnati Mercury, to publish as Cincinnati Gazette and Liberty Hall, and was owned and operated by Wesley Smead and S.S. L’Hommedieu.  The paper published only weekly until 1827, when it became Cincinnati’s first daily paper, boasting new and modern printing technologies. Under the new and prominent editor Charles Hammond, the Cincinnati Gazette was published daily, and the Cincinnati Gazette and Liberty Hall continued to be published weekly. The Gazette was printed until late 1881.
