James Cornell Biddle, Jr., 1835-1898

Biography:
Part of the Philadelphia Biddle family, he served in the Union Army from 1861 through the end of the Civil War.  Was on the staff of Major General George Gordon Meade, including during the Gettysburg Campaign. He was once taken prisoner by the Confederates.

Son of James Cornell Biddle Sr. (1795-1838) and Sarah Caldwell Keppele Biddle (1789-1877).  He married Gertrude Gouvernuer Meredith (1839-1905) on December 27, 1862.  They had two daughters, Catherine M. Biddle and Sarah Caldwell Biddle.
