Field notes of Nicholas Scull (1687-1761) with surveying information of streets and residences in Philadelphia and vicinity. Scull, also a cartographer, was the Surveyor General of Pennsylvania from 1748-1761 and prior to this also served as Sheriff of Philadelphia County. His father was a surveyor as were his three sons. In 1737, Scull played a key role in the surveying which led to the Walking Purchase (or Treaty) between the Penn family and the Lenape.
