Biography:

George Matthews Harding was born in Philadelphia. Worked briefly as an architect while studying art at PAFA before making art and writing his full time occupations. He was an illustrator for The Saturday Evening Post and Harper's Monthly. Harding taught briefly at the fine arts department of the University of Pennsylvania and Moore College of Art before setting up his own studio. In addition he painted mural decorations for theaters, hotels, and other buildings.
