Biography:
William Henry Robertson was a lawyer and politician.
Robertson was born in Bedford, New York on October 10, 1823. He practiced law in New York. Robertson became a member of the NY State Assembly in 1849 and 1850. He served in the State senate (1854-1855; 1872 -1881; 1888-1891) and the United States Congress (1867-1869), and ran unsuccessfully for the governorship of New York in 1872. In 1881, President James A. Garfield appointed Robertson to the position of Collector of the Port of New York. Robertson died in Katonah, New York on December 6, 1898.
