Biography:

In August 1820, newspapers reported the story of "John C. Williams," a drunk man, claiming to be from Philadelphia, who was falsely diagnosed with yellow fever by doctors in New York. Williams's story is parodied in the circa 1820 political cartoon "A Case of Infectious Fever."
