Image Description:
Supplement to the Boston Independent Chronicle, No. 705 was a fictitious newspaper written by Benjamin Franklin and printed by him on his press at Passey France in 1782.  An early example of American propaganda, the newspaper details alleged atrocities undertaken by Native American populations on behalf of the British during the Revolutionary War.  The alleged atrocities are detailed in the form of a fictitious letter from a Capt. Samuel Gerrish relating the contents of a letter from "James Craufurd" to "Col. Haldimand, Governor of Canada."
