The Bricklayers Company was established in 1790 to improve "the science of architecture" and to assist its members and their widows and children in case of accidents. The Company's principal activity was setting and checking prices for brick and stone work in the Philadelphia region.(1) is the Act of Incorporation and By-Laws set down by the Bricklayers in July 1797 (pages 21-27).
