Map of the United States with boundary lines as drawn by British commissioners at the start of negotiations for the Treaty of Ghent in July 1814, to end the War of 1812. Notably, the British requested a buffer zone in the northwest which was to be a British-sponsored Indian state, which the United States did not abide. The ratified Treaty did not include any of the major territory changes shown on this map.
