Image Description:
The heads of President-elect William Taft and President Theodore Roosevelt are depicted as globes. They sit ready to eat at a Thanksgiving dinner table. A turkey, fruit, gravy bowl, plates, and a vase with flowers rests on the table. Roosevelt cuts into the turkey with “good harvest”, “progress”, “prosperity”, and “peace” written on it. The head of William Jennings Bryan peeks out of the gravy bowl exclaiming “I’m thankful I wasn’t elected.”

Earlier that month, Republican nominee Taft had won the 1908 presidential election against the Democratic nominee, Bryan. Roosevelt had promised he wouldn’t run for a third term and had given his support to Taft. Roosevelt would soon be ending his term as the 26th President of the United States. The political cartoon was created by Fred Morgan and printed on 11-26-1908 in the Philadelphia Inquirer.
