This drawing depicts an ox presented to King George III on New Year's Day by George Greville, second Earl of Warwick. According to West's measurments the ox stands six feet tall and ten feet long.

This drawing is one of a small collection of drawings created by American-born artist Benjamin West (1738-1820) during his career in London (circa 1765-circa 1819).

290 Ox brought from Lord Warwick's Park and shewn to His Majesty at Windsor, Jan. 1st, 1787, oblong, 8 1/2 in. by 13 3/8 in., pen-and-ink, within border of light brown wash, mounted, 21/-   s.f.
The title as above is written by the artist at the bottom ; the measurements of the animal are indicated by lines, but they do not interfere with the drawing.
