First Long Island Volunteers, Abercrombie's Brigade morning reports. Each lists the number of officers and enlisted men, along with short reports on general operations. There are nine reports in all. Col./Brig. Gen. John Cochrane is listed as the commanding officer on all but one (on August 4th it is listed as Col. J.H. Neill). Also "Abercrombie's Brigrade" was renamed "John Cochrane's Brigade" by September 10th and by November 19th the brigrade was reidentified again as the "3rd Division, 6th Corps."

Known officially as the 67th New York Infantry, the First Long Island Volunteers were raised in Brooklyn in 1861. The recruits were predominantly Irish-born.
