Each re-enlistment declaration contains the recruit's origin of birth, general physical chracteristic, date and location of original enlistment, and the stipulations of his enlistment in the 67th New York Infantry. These eighteen declarations were all signed on December 25, 1863. They are the 2nd enlistment declarations for each soldier. All of these soldiers originally enlisted in Brooklyn around 1861. One term of enlistment was three years. These declarations were processed at Brandy's Junction, Virginia at the end of 1863. The 67th New York Infantry was largely made up of immigrants and, as revealed in these papers, the majority were born in Ireland.
