A bound manuscript collection compiled by John Fanning Watson a member of the Historical Society of Pennsylvania and presented to HSP in 1830. It includes sources and research by Watson on the development of Philadelphia 1693-1828. The front portion of the book is mostly manuscript research and memoranda compiled by the Watson. The rear sections labelled "miscalaneous sources" contains many of his primary sources, letters, clippings, portraits, etc. This particular volume contains colonial and continental currency, the Arabic signature of Alfa Abdul-Rahman, fabric samples, meterological tables, and Polish General Tadeusz Kościuszko's portrait of Lucetta A. Pollock.
