A portrait of John Sartain (1816-1890) from the second of two photographic portrait albums assembled by W. Curtis Taylor & Company for the Centennial Exhibition. Sartain was an artist who pioneered mezzotint engraving in the United States.  He published Sartain's Union Magazine.  Sartain had charge of the art department of the Centennial Exposition in Philadelphia, in 1876.
