This digital record contains two images of one letter written by Georgian Confederate General David E. Twiggs to ex-president James Buchanan [his tenure in office ended March 4, 1861]. The letter is very threatening and Twiggs appears to be personally offended by Buchanan firing him as a traitor from the Department of Texas. He also criticizes Buchanan's inaction during the Mexican-American War. Twiggs promises Buchanan a "personal interview" and addresses him as "late President of the U.S."
