This digital record contains images of Lt. Col. William North's letter to Lt. Col. Benjamin Walker, Mount Vernon, March 9, 1784. In this letter North allegedly writes some disparaging remarks about Mr. and Mrs. Washington. The folder that houses this letter contains an additional letter written by Charles C. Will of the Mount Vernon Ladies' Association to Nicholas Wainwirhg, Director of the Historical Society of Pennsylvania refuting the assesment letter's contents stating that it is, "ambiguous" and incomplete" and may "overtempt the uninformed muckraker."
