This record contains the contents of a single folder from the Society Collection pertaining to John McAllister, Jr. (1786-1877), a Philadelphia optician.  McAllister wrote an account of the history of the house at the southwest corner of 7th and Market Streets.  Thomas Jefferson lodged there while he wrote the Declaration of Independence.
