Image Description:
View showing the floating bridge across the Schuylkill River at Gray’s Ferry. On the bridge, two men fish, a boy looks out onto the river, and a horse-drawn dray travels. In the background, a residence, possibly the Say family estate, is partially visible behind trees at the top of a rocky cliff rising from the river, and buildings line the Gray’s Ferry Road leading to the bridge. Gray’s Ferry was named after the ferry service operated by the Gray family on the lower section of the Schuylkill River during the 18th century. Floating bridge razed 1838.
