Ormiston Mansion Built by Edward Burd the Elder and Occupied by him as a summer residence till his death and afterwards by his sons Edward Shippen Burd and subsequently by his Widow and at her death by the Misses Baibley to whom Sarah Burd gavev a life Estate and finally sold by Edward Shippen and Thomas H Walters trustees ot the Park Commissioners and was the first property sold to the Fairmount Park Commission under the act authorizing the Commission to take private property for Park uses.
