City of Glasgow, Ocean Iron Screw Steamship. The pioneer vessel of a line of steamers between Liverpool and Philadelphia arrived in the Delaware off Queen St. Wharf on January 31st 1853. Captain Wylie, Commander. I took this sketch immediately after she dropped her anchor during the year the City of Manchester was added and Capt Wylie was transferred to her. The City of Glasgow sailed from Liverpool in March 1854 with another Captain and over 400 passengers for Philada. since which time she has not been heard of. D.J. Kennedy.
