Image: 1/9 plate; Head and shoulders of a man with a full beard and mustache wearing a jacket, vest and thin tie, with color applied to his cheeks. Preserver: Fancier with inward points at the corners (after 1858). Mat: Oval with matte finish and ornate (late 1850s). Case: Paper-covered wood-frame with a geometric design, with red velvet pinchpad and a red velvet cushion embossed with a floral design (1850-60s).
