Image: 1/9 plate; Head and shoulders of a woman, possibly Phoebe House, with hair parted in the center and covering her ears, in a dark dress with white lace collar and undersleeves, a brooch at her throat and a dark ribbon in her hair. Preserver: Straight and embossed with simple pattern (after 1850). Mat: Oval with matte finish and ornate (late 1850s). Case: Thermoplastic with geometric design (Berg No. 3-292), with red velvet pinchpad, eggplant velvet cushion embossed with floral design (1853-57).
