Image: 1/6 plate; Head and shoulders of a man with graying hair, seated on a large, simple posing chair in a jacket, with a tie loosely formed in a box, and starched collar with standing points, with a fringe of beard around the cheeks and jawline. Preserver: [none]. Mat: Nonpariel with sandy finish (1840s). Case: Paper-covered wood-frame embossed with a floral design on the front and a geometric design on the back, with a red velvet pinchpad, and a red velvet cushion with a flower and urn design (1850-60s).
