Image Description:
Image: 1/6 plate; Head and shoulders of a man with hair parted on one side, oiled and combed up in a wave at the center of the forehead, with a full beard and mustache, wearing a dark jacket, vest, white button-up shirt, and long dark necktie, with a pocket watch chain clipped to his vest button hole, and color applied to his cheeks. Preserver: Straight and embossed with simple pattern (after 1850). Mat: Oval with matte finish and simple embossed design (1850). Case: Leather-covered wood-frame half case embossed with a vase design on the back, with a gilded pattern in the interior edge, with red velvet pinchpad (1850s).
