Image: Seated woman with hand resting on cloth-covered posing table, dressed in a black dress and pelerine-style cape edged in black lace, and wearing a white daycap tied with a printed ribbon beneath her chin, and spectacles. Preserver: Stiff & heavy, more golden (1847-50). Mat: Nonpariel with matte finish (mid 1840s to mid 1850s). Case: Leather-covered wood-frame embossed with a floral design both front and back, with a red velvet pinchpad and red velvet cushion embossed with a geometric design (1850s).
