Image: 1/6 plate; Head and shoulders of a young man with hair parted on one side and puffed at the forehead, dressed in a dark jacket and a dark silk patterned vest, with a white shirt, collar points turned down, and a wide, short patterned silk bow tie, color applied to his cheeks and lips.
Preserver: Stiff & heavy (1847-50).
Mat: Oval with matte finish and simple embossed design (1850).
Case: Paper-covered wood-frame embossed with floral design on front and geometric design on back, with a purple velvet pinchpad and a plain (unembossed) purple velvet cushion (1850s).
