Image Description:
Image: 1/4 plate; Man with hair puffed over the forehead, and a full beard, dressed in a dark jacket with wide lapels and a high back collar, a dark vest, a white shirt with pleated bosom and a bejeweled button, a high white collar with a narrow turn down over a patterned silk kerchief tie. Preserver: [none] (pre-1847). Mat: Octagonal with pebble finish (1839-mid 40s). Case: Leather-covered wood-frame embossed with a geometric design both front and back, with a rose colored pinchpad and a purple silk cushion (ca. 1850).
