Image: 1/4 plate; Seated man with hair parted on one side and covering his ears, dressed in a dark cloak and dark jacket over a white shirt, with collar turned down over a dark knotted silk kerchief. Preserver: [none] (pre-1847). Mat: Oval with pebble finish, cardboard-backed foil (1845-55). Case: Leather-covered wood-frame embossed with a geometric design, unembossed on the back, with an eggplant purple velvet pinchpad and unembossed eggplant purple velvet cushion (ca.1850).
