Image: 1/2 plate; Seated woman with hair parted in the center, arm resting on cloth covered posing table, dressed in a long-sleeved black dress, with the bretelles and pelerine combined into a tabard that appears to be attached to the front waist seam, a white daycap tied under her chin, and a small purse hanging from her forearm, color applied to her cheeks.
Preserver: [none] (pre-1847).
Mat: Octagonal with uncommon matte finish embossed overall in a simple geometric pattern ( early 1850s).
Case: Leather-covered wood-frame embossed with a floral design on the front and unembossed on the back, with an eggplant purple pinchpad and plain (unembossed) cushion (1845-50).
