Image: 1/2 plate; Seated man with gray hair brushed across the top of the head from one side, and bushy eyebrows, dressed in a dark partially-buttoned jacket with large buttons, a checked button-up vest with collar, and a white shirt with a high turned up collar, and a dark necktie with a lighter bow over top, with one hand resting on his lap, the other tucked inside his jacket.
Preserver: [none] (pre-1847).
Mat: Octagonal with sandy finish (late 1840s).
Case: Leather-covered wood-frame embossed with a geometric design on the front only, with a plain (unembossed) back, a dark navy blue velvet pinchpad and a dark navy blue plain (unembossed) velvet cushion (1846-48).
Inscription:
