Image: 1/2 plate; Seated woman with arm resting on cloth-covered posing table, holding spectacles in her hand, with hair parted in the center, wearing a long-sleeved black dress with a shorter waistline typical of the late forties, with a shorter and easier corset, with a whitework collar, a small brooch at her throat, and a sheer white daycap tied with ribbons under her chin. Preserver: [none] (pre-1847). Mat: Elliptical with pebbled finish (1839 - mid 1840s). Case: Green leather-covered wood-frame embossed with a floral and butterfly design on the front only, with a plain (unembossed) back, a red velvet pinchpad, and a red velvet cushion embossed with the photographer's studio name and address (1846-48).
