Image: 1/6 plate; Seated woman with arm resting on a cloth-covered posing table, her hair oiled and brushed into a horizontal bend at the ears, with a tortoise comb at the crown, wearing a long sleeved dress made of printed fabric, with a small white collar and undersleeves, with a pencil on a gilded chain around her neck, a gilded ring on her finger, and a gilded floral brooch at her breast, holding an unidentified object in the hand on her lap, color applied to her cheeks and mouth. Preserver: [none]. Mat: Nonpariel with sandy finish (1840s). Case: Leather-covered wood-frame embossed with a floral design on the front and a geometric design on the back, with a red velvet pinchpad, and a red velvet cushion embossed with a floral design (1850s).Format:
