Image: 1/4 plate; Seated woman, with center-parted hair puffed over the ears, with arm resting on a cloth covered posing table, wearing a dark silk dress with a front buttoned simulated vest bodice front with lapels, long narrow sleeves, a small white collar and pleated, flared white undersleeves, two rings on her fingers, color applied to her cheeks. Preserver: Straight, narrow, embossed with simple pattern (after 1850). Mat: Double elliptical, with sandy finish (mid 1840-50). Case: Leather-covered wood-frame embossed with a flower vase design both front and back, with gilded edge trim both exterior and interior, with a rose red pincord pinchpad and a rose red pincord corduroy cushion embossed with a floral design (ca. 1850).
